When you are needing to create a link in your website, you can easily do so. The following tutorial will show you how.
|
| 1. |
Let's start off by clicking on the "Welcome Text" link in Website Manager. |
| 2. |
Type some text in the window underneath the toolbar: |
| |
|
| 3. |
Now highlight (select) the text "CNN.com": |
| |
 |
| 4. |
Click on the chain link icon: |
| |
 |
| 5. |
The HyperLink Editor box will open up with the text you highlighted in the "Link Text:" box: |
| |

|
| 6. |
In the HyperLink Editor dialog box you have 3 link type options: 1: link to a web site; 2. link to a secured web site; 3. link to an email address: |
| |

|
| 7. |
Select "http" as the "Type:" of link and type in www.cnn.com in the "Link:" box. Make sure there are no spaces after the "http://" (example: http://www.cnn.com): |
| |

|
| 8. |
Now, click on the downward arrow in the "Target" box, and you will see two options: 1. "open within site"; 2. "open new window". |
| |
If you select "open new window", when a visitor clicks this link a new browser window will open up to the website (in this example, www.cnn.com) that you created a link to. Unless you are linking to your something on your own web site, you will want to choose this option. Click "OK": |
| |

|
| 9. |
You have just created a link! |
| |

|
| 10. |
To test it click "Save Changes". The message "Your changes have been saved successfully!" will appear: |
| |

|
| 11. |
Click "Preview Unapproved Changes" and click on the link you created. The website you linked to will open up in a new browser window. |
